“I Saw the Sign”
Key Signage Pieces for a Flawless Celebration
By Kira Appel, Scripted
As we have expressed, a huge part of our desire for your wedding day is to ensure that guest experience is second only to that of you and your loved ones. In order to maintain the happy and informed guest, signage throughout your day can accomplish this in a stylish, personalized way.
Personalized signs add a unique and memorable element to your event. Guests notice the details, and seeing custom signs with your names, dates, or special messages makes the experience feel more personal. It’s a way to leave a lasting impression that reflects your personality and thoughtfulness.
When it comes to considering what signage to display at your wedding, we’ve put together a list for you to consider adding from the first arrivals of your guests until the end of the night!
Ceremony Signage:
Directional Signage: for some venues, the areas for each part of your celebration may be spread out or not obvious, so providing directional signage for things like a ceremony site that is in a different area from parking. Parking signs if a traditional parking lot is not noticeable and signs for restrooms are other helpful directions.
Welcome Signs: Your names and personalized welcome message will greet your guests with style and help set the mood for the celebration.
Unplugged Ceremony: An unplugged ceremony sign will give guests a happy reminder that you would prefer cell phones silenced, put away, and no photos being taken during your ceremony.
Reserved Seating: Indicate reserved seating for family at the ceremony or for guests with special needs during the cocktail hour.
Program Sign vs Programs: rather than using printed programs, a sign displaying your bridal party, participants, and the order of events can inform your guests in a unique way.
Cocktail Hour Signage:
Seating Arrangements: The seating chart is crucial for guiding guests to their dinner tables. There are many ways to display this information whether it be a seating chart, escort cards, or a statement piece, which we’ll explore in a blog post to come.
Beverage Menus: Savor the details by showcasing your cocktail creations and beverage options.
Guestbook - help your guests identify where they can find the guestbook and from there the level of detail that you want to include as to directions for how your guests leave their mark. If you are using a traditional guest book, it can say "sign your name here" or for a more interactive guest book, list simple, clear directions.
Cards & Gifts - Your guests will be eager to deposit the gifts that they have brought to you so they can keep their hands open for the yummy food and beverage options. These signs will clearly show them where to do this in your cocktail hour/reception areas.
Reception Signage:
Table Numbers/Names: Clearly label tables to assist guests in finding their seats easily. For multiple long tables, be sure to assign each one its own number or name.
Menu Signage: Let the guests know what they will be having for dinner with menu signs displayed in the reception space or printed styles on the table
Photo Booth and Activity Signs: These can encourage participation and interaction from your guests. Set the scene for memorable moments by alerting guests to activity stations/areas.
Special Touches: these can be custom signs for unique moments, memories, or wishes. Examples would be to note memory tables for loved ones, a honeymoon fund, a group photo service for guests to upload the pics they take, information about the favors you have for the guests, and more. Be sure to incorporate your wedding theme for a cohesive feel.
As you can see, wedding signage is more than just functional—it sets the tone for your special day and guides guests seamlessly through every moment. Stay tuned for our next post, where we’ll dive into creative seating arrangement options to make your reception both stylish and organized!
